Trends show you’re far from alone in your increasing adoption of open-source databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL and flavors of NoSQL. By one estimate, open-source database management systems (OSDBMS) will account for almost 75 percent of new, in-house applications by the end of the year, and about half of existing relational DBMS will be in some state of conversion by then.

Resistance to the OSDBMS in the enterprise is diminishing as CIOs and IT managers realize it is, indeed, a low-cost, yet reliable, alternative to the proprietary RDBMS, especially with the advent of better management functions and support. In short, the enterprise is taking open-source databases seriously.

In this on-demand webcast, we’ll set the scene by examining the rapid growth of commercial-grade open-source database platforms and highlight some of the challenges their use presents to developers and administrators unfamiliar with them. We will then present solutions for overcoming these challenges, as you transition off your existing database platforms.
